In this article, we will review how to import PPM Express tasks as Key Dates.
Please note: Only users who have permission to edit the PPM Express project can import tasks as Key Dates.
To import PPM Express tasks as project Key Dates perform the following:
1. Open PPM Express project where you would like to import tasks as Key Dates.
2. Navigate to the Key Dates section of the project and select the Import Key Date option.
3. In the Import Key Date window, select PPM Express from the Connection drop-down. It is possible to search for the required PPM Express task by Name, Type, or ID. Or you can just click in the search window, and 10 PPM Express tasks will become available for selection. As you select to import them as Key Dates, the next tasks will become available in the list.
4. To select the task you need to import just click on it, and it will be added to the list of the selected items. When you are ready with the selection, click Confirm to import the selected tasks as Key Dates.
You can delete unnecessary items from this list or open them on the PPM Express tasks page.
5. As you click Confirm the selected items will be added to the Key Dates section.
The statuses and the names for the imported Key Dates are imported from tasks and cannot be changed within PPM Express. If there are any changes to the tasks on the tasks page, they will be applied to Key Dates after data synchronization automatically. Only custom fields can be edited for the imported Key Dates.
The tasks imported as Key Dates can be opened on the tasks page from the Key Dates section directly by clicking on the PPM Express icon next to each Key Date.
To delete the imported Key Dates perform the following:
1. Select the Key Dates you need to delete from the list.
2. Click the Delete Key Date button.
3. Confirm that you would like to remove the Key Dates. The selected Key Dates will be deleted at once.
If the Key Date is deleted, the task is not affected. If the task is deleted, the related Key Date is not affected as well.
Also, the tasks can be added as milestones to the Key Dates section, but this functionality is different.
To add a task as a milestone, open the task on the PPM Express tasks page, select the task and set it as a milestone.
In this case, the task will appear in the Key Dates section, as a milestone. The task will be marked as a milestone in both sections.
If this milestone is deleted from the Key Dates section, the task will be deleted as well.
The same task cannot be imported as Key Date and as Milestone. If you mark the task imported as Key Date as a milestone, it will be marked on the tasks page as a milestone. It will not be changed in the Key Sate section.
