Multiple tenants in PPM Express

PPM Express provides the ability to create multiple tenants within one organization.

This functionality is available for customers on the Enterprise Plan only.

Two tenants are available for all users on the Enterprise Plan by default. If you have one PPM Express tenant on the Enterprise plan, you can add another tenant to PPM Express free of charge. If you need more than two tenants, each extra tenant is provided at an additional cost.

If you would like to use an additional tenant that is included in your Enterprise Plan, you can create it and add users. The number of users available in the additional tenant corresponds to the number of users in your Enterprise Plan subscription.

The additional tenant can be used in the following ways:

  • as a sandbox environment, for testing purposes (for example, to create test/real projects and use new functionality on the test tenant before implementing any changes to the production one)
  • as a separate environment to help organize the work of different independent departments within one organization.
  • as a separate environment when different parts of the organization (or different brands under the same umbrella) want to maintain independent field/view/filter/permission configuration within PPM Express.

If you need to add more users than you have according to your subscription, please contact our Customer Success Team at: customersuccess@ppm.express

If you want to create more tenants, please contact our Customer Success Team at: customersuccess@ppm.express, with the corresponding request.

At this time, data cannot be merged or migrated between several tenants (only using the import/export to/from .csv file functionality). Also, there is no cross-tenant reporting, so we do not recommend creating any common projects or resources across the tenants for the tenant-level reporting to make sense.

The number of user licenses is purchased and shared between multiple tenants. Only unique users are considered and counted. For example, if you have 25 users in your main tenant and the same users will access an additional tenant, you will need only 25 licenses for your users for both tenants. Another example, if you have 25 users in the main tenant and 30 users in the additional one where 15 users are the same as in the main tenant, you will need 25 + 15 = 40 licenses in total. These 40 users can access both tenants if needed.

Tenant admin can be different for the additional tenants per your request, however, one selected user should be added to all tenants (usually it is the admin in the main tenant).
