Risk Dashboard App

The Risk Dashboard is an app in PPM Express that provides a visual and interactive overview of risks at the Project, Program, or Portfolio level.

It helps you quickly understand your risk landscape and explore details without leaving the page.

Note: This functionality is available only for the Enterprise Ultra plan. Also, apps are currently available only to customers in the US region.

Risk Dashboard Overview

The dashboard automatically detects its embedding context (Portfolio, Program, or Project) and adjusts to show relevant risk data with comprehensive filtering capabilities. No additional setup or action is required from the user.

All data is loaded securely in the background, ensuring a seamless experience.

Key Features

The dashboard combines high-level visuals with detailed data in one place:

  • Risk matrices showing Residual and Inherited risks.
  • Clear distribution of risks by Probability and Impact.

  • A detailed table with all risks based on the current filters.
  • A real-time risk counter that updates based on applied filters.

Risks are also grouped to make analysis easier:

  • Status: Active, Closed, Postponed. Solid color backgrounds with white text.
  • Due Date: Overdue, Due Today, Due This Week, Due This Month, or No Due Date. Tooltips explain each category on hover.
  • Category: Dynamic cards generated from risk data. Blue/purple/green color palette (avoids red/orange/yellow to prevent confusion with risk levels).

This structure helps you quickly identify critical risks and focus on what needs attention.

Interactive Filtering

The Risk Dashboard is fully interactive and allows you to:

  • Click on matrix cells to filter risks by Probability and Impact.
  • Filter by Status, Due Date, and Category.
  • Apply multiple filters at the same time.
  • See active filters and remove them individually.
  • Instantly update the risk table based on your selection.

All filters work together, so you can easily narrow down from a high-level overview to specific risks.

The Risk Dashboard App helps you move from high-level risk exposure to detailed analysis in just a few clicks, making it easier to monitor, prioritize, and manage risks effectively.

Risk Dashboard Configuration

To configure the Risk Dashboard App, perform the following:

1. Open the Tenant Settings page -> Extensions -> New Extension. Type in the name for your Extension.

Delete

Note: The Tenant Settings page is available only to PPM Express Administrators.

2. Copy the following URL for the Risk Dashboard Extension:

https://risk-dashboard-1003.bluemeadow-999b1372.centralus.azurecontainerapps.io

3. Paste it into the URL field of the new Extension.

4. Provide the Extension location (Project, Portfolio, or Program dashboard -> Actions).

In this example, we will create a Risk Dashboard App for Projects, but the process is identical for Programs and Portfolios. You can then reuse the same URL to create Extensions for Programs and Portfolios.

The recommended panel size is Large

5. Add Description, if needed. Click Create Extension

When the dashboard is embedded into a PPM Express page, it automatically receives a secure, short-lived access token from the page. This token allows the dashboard to safely retrieve the necessary data from PPM Express. No additional setup or action is required from your side.

The Risk Dashboard App configuration is finished and ready for use.

Navigate to the selected location, the Project dashboard in our example, and choose this app from the Actions menu.
